This is a photo of Lorenzo Jackson Adams from Mary Brett. He is our mutual great grandfather.
He was a policeman. This photo was taken in 1913 in Norwalk, CT.
I am hoping to get some assistance in cleaning up his individual image so we can have more of an idea what he looked like. Thanks, Mary
I vaguely remember my grandfather, Lorenzo Victor Adams, he was "Papa" to me, talking about not getting away with anything when he was a kid because his dad was a police officer. Papa was a story teller. When I read the story about CJA walking home from school with rheumatic fever, it sounded just like Papa would tell stories. He could tell stories for hours. In his last 10 years or so, my mom, who is Laurence John Adams' first wife, would take Papa and Uncle Peter, who was blind and schizophrenic, out to lunch every Saturday. My mom listened to years of storytelling and reminiscing by both Papa and Uncle Peter. I should ask my mom what she remembers of the stories he told.
ReplyDeleteHere's a funny story about Uncle Peter. A cousin on my Fagan side asked me the middle name of my great aunt Helen Fagan. No one I asked knew. Peter at the time, was demented and confined to bed, being tube fed, and not capable of carrying on a conversation. We went to visit Peter, and yelled in his left ear (he was deaf in the right ear)"What was Aunt Helen's middle name?". As clear as day, Peter said "Veronica". We were amazed!
After my Aunt Patty died in the late 1950's, a family tragedy that happened before I was born, Aunt Helen moved to Schnectady to help Uncle Bob with Katy and Debbie. When Katy and Debbie left home, she lived with Papa, Grandma, and Uncle Peter at 4 Center Ave, in Norwalk. So she and Peter were close.
15 or 20 years ago, Papa was at my mom's house, and we were going through old pictures and asking him about them. My brother Jim videotaped the whole thing. I'm pretty sure he has it, but it isn't digital, so it needs to be converted to a format that is playable now. I'll have to ask him about it, because it would be neat to be able to post that.
