Estelle Shutes Stottler

Isn't she beautiful? This is Estelle Shutes, who married Malcolm Stottler, son on Victor E Stottler and Helen Warren Stottler. Victor was son of Mary Jane Adams Stottler.

It is through Malcolm and Estelle that we know about our wonderful modern-day descendants of this side of the family, a story I will share shortly.

I hope one or more of Estelle's granddaughters or grandsons will write and tell us about her. I'd like to know more than the few stories I've heard.

Sandy? Jen? Anyone?

  1. She was a very warm, loving Grandmother...we all called her "Gammie." I was the 2nd youngest of 25 grandchildren, so probably not the best to recall all of her traits. She came to visit on an occasional holiday - her husband, Malcolm Warren Stottler, died before I was born. We used to visit her in her apartment in Philadelphia when I was young, and she always had games for kids to play, and welcomed us into her lap for a hug. My mother (Anne Stottler Grover) has lots of stories of when they were growing up during the depression- mom was born in 1928. I think that when Gammie was pregnant with Warren- my uncle, her last-born, and only son - she had some difficulties and the girls (5 of them!) had to learn to run the house while she spent most of that pregnancy on the sofa or bed. I remember her as very loving, sweet, and attentive grandmother. My mom was completely devoted to her.
